How to think in English (and stop translating in your head)
Most learners hit a wall not because of grammar, but because they translate every sentence from their first language before speaking. Here is how to break the habit.
1. Narrate your day
Describe what you are doing, in English, in your head. "I am making coffee. The kettle is loud." No pressure, no audience.
2. Learn chunks, not words
Native speakers store phrases ("to be honest", "at the end of the day"), not isolated words. Collect chunks and reuse them.
3. Give yourself thinking time
Fillers like "well...", "let me think..." buy you a second and sound natural. Silence feels longer to you than to your listener.
